In todays scenario, the importance of backup is apparent eying an increase in the number of data loss incidents that we hear everyday. At the time of system or hardware crash, backup offers a reliable restoration of our confidential backed up data. Backup can be created using various third-party tools. Backup creation is a useful feature included in every version of Microsoft Windows operating system. Windows XP use an built-in backup utility NTBackup that helps the users to backup important files, folders, or even schedule backups at fixed time intervals. It creates backup in a BKF format file. • You do not have permissions to access the backup file.

The header is the most critical part of a BKF file as it contains valuable information like file type, size, location etc. Any damage caused to the header may result in corruption of the BKF file. This would prevent you from accessing the backup file and performing the restore process. To repair corrupt BKF file, try to follow the below mentioned resolution steps.

  • If the problem is header corruption, try to validate the BKF file.
  • If the problem still persists, take help of an efficient BKF repair tool.
These software have a feature to search for the corrupt BKF file in the system. They use powerful scanning algorithms to scan and repair the corrupt BKF file. The scan information can be saved at a user-specified location to resume recovery at any later stage.
