  • QuickBooks Error 1306

You might have noticed that when you tried to install any update for QuickBooks, an error 1306 is displayed on the screen, which reads - Another application has exclusive access to [filename].

This error is common and appears when another process of the program is still running on the background.  Even if you have closed the QuickBooks program, certain parts of the program process continues to run and is visible in Windows Task Manager window. This error may also occur because of a damaged installation of the program.

How to fix it?
Even before you try to fix the error that has appeared on the screen while attempting to install program updates, you must close all the processes of the QuickBooks. And, in case the error occurs because of a damaged installation, you must get the program repaired. To repair, here are the steps that needs to be followed –

  1. Close the QuickBooks program 
  2. Reboot.bat. file
  3. Restart the computer and the QuickBooks program
  4. In case this error still appears, try and repair the existing installation
  5. If the error still persists, uninstall the program

  • QuickBooks Error: -6144, -301

Sometimes when you are trying to access the QuickBooks company file, an Error 6144, -301 occurs. This error is an indication that the company files is corrupt. In order to fix it, you will have to restore the most recent backup. If you are still unsure or unable to do it, get in touch with a data service team or even use a third part tool.

  • QuickBooks Error 1606:

While trying to install QuickBooks, you might have seen this error message on the screen. There isn’t anything to whine when you see this error message. It is essential for you to know that such error messages appear when the Windows user account is corrupt or the listed network location on the error is not available.

How to fix it?
To resolve this problem, you can install the program through the Admin user account.  Or else you can follow the steps mentioned below –

  1. Restart your computer
  2. Sign-in to the computer using the Windows admin username and password
  3. Try installing the program through the admin account 
    • Use selective start-up mode to restart the computer. Reinstall the QuickBooks program

  • QuickBooks Error H101, H202, H303, and H505:

When you are trying to open QuickBooks company file in the multi-user mode, you might have encountered Error H101, H202, H303, and H505. This error often appears when you either try to work with a file located in another computer, and the copy that you are trying to open isn’t able to reach the server on that computer. Or, when you try to access the file on another computer that requires additional setup and installations.  To fix this error, you need to turn off the hosting on all the machines and turn it on a single machine.

How to fix it?
In order to fix it, you will have to turn on the hosting for a single computer and turn it off for the rest. After that follow the below mentioned steps -

  1. Open the program and go to File > Utilities
  2. If the Host Multi-User Access option appears in the list, this means that this computer is not hosting the company file and you can move on to the next computer
  3. If Stop Hosting Multi-User Access appears, select it and click on the Yes tab for confirmation
  4. Restart the computer and repeat the same process in rest of the computers
  5. After completion of this process, turn on the hosting on the computer that is assigned as the server


  • Income Account: The specified Account does not exist in the list:

When you are importing an item in QuickBooks, you must have come across this error message that appears in the CSV error log. This error message means that the income account that you have selected on an item has not still been created in QuickBooks. How to fix:

You can resolve it by adding that particular account to the chart of accounts and import again.
 Click on Chart of Accounts.

  1. Go to Account->New.
  2. Select Income and click on Continue button.
  3. Now fill the details for new account and click Save & Close option.
